*** Do a web search for "wire table" or "ampacity".  I found a table that
claims that 18AWG is OK for up to 14 amps.  However, I believe that at
that current, the wire will attain a temperature of 194 degrees F, which
is somewhat higher than I would personally view as "acceptable".  Other
tables show lower current values.
