There's no excuse for launching a CQ without checking. Of course, a single QRL? may not be enough, as the station using the frequency may be listening a bit off, etc. I suggest the first couple calls be very short, like "TEST K9MA", which gives the other station a chance to make some noise. A longer CQ can follow, when you're pretty sure the frequency is clear. Scott K9MA |
