My opinion on two things germane to his polemic:
1) Do away with th 175 mi. rule. We are a global community, aren't we.
2) Do away with the 2 meetings per year rule/quota. If you do #2, then
#1 would be moot.

I was just looking over the results for the February CW Sprint. Nice job
Tree. What really struck me as impressive was KZ2S's score from NJ. 4th
place, wow! Now here's a guy that can brag all he wants (not that he would)
at Dayton.
You can place in the top ten in every DX contest from now until 2000, but if
you can't operate the Sprint you're what's called in my business an order
taker! You sit on a frequency and call CQ for 48 hours in the DX contest,
turn in a big score, and think you're an op. The "real" ops are the guys
that can operate ANY contest with impressive results.
The guys I consider to be quality ops in the NE are guys like K1KI, K1TO,
K5ZD/1, W1WEF, W2GD, N2NT, KT3Y, ect.. Enter one of these guys at a
decent station in any contest and you will find him at or near the top!
So here's a challenge... I challenge all of you W1's, W2's, and W3's to
show the rest of us what kind of ops you are/aren't... Enter the CW Sprint
in September. Don't generate email, it won't impress anyone. The proof is
in the pudding! It's only a 4 hour investment of your time, and you might
have fun!

Are the 10 x 20 "fields" the same as the two letter 10 by 20 degree
grid letter identifiers? (Ie FN, FM, EM etc?)
It does seem like these grid squares are becoming better known - One
GPS manufacturer even provides them in the location readout.

I'm looking for a Carribean QTH to use during next year's ARRL CW
contest. If you have one or know of one, please let me know about it.
Complete station would be nice, but I'd like something at least with
