That was in the original vanity rules, but was changed along the way
long before Gate 1 opened. Now the wait is 2 years following license
expiration, surrender, revocation, or death of the licensee.
The only exceptions are for former holders of a call, close relatives
of a former holder, or a request in memoriam following the death of a
holder.

Author: HWDX09A@prodigy.com ( ROBERT REED) at INTERNET
Callsigns VACATED when a vanity application was made become eligible
for reissue IMMEDIATELY and could possibly be back in operation with
a month or so of being vacated. The 2 year wait applies only to
expired or Silent Key callsigns that may be applied for under other
regulations. Amateurs have a 2 year grace period to renew an expired
license.
A VACATED callsign has been set free by the operator relinquishing it
and is now fair came. Many of these callsigns may stay unissued as
they were given up for more popular callsigns. One example might be
N1EE as a popular callsign to be grabbed up as Scott went for an N6
callsign.

NO.. NO.. NO!!! Don't start hitting return if you haven't been doing so
already!!
Most e-mail programs should automatically wrap your messages. If your
program has an option to turn it on, by all means do so and then you won't
have to hit return. But you probably already know how to use YOUR e-mail
program.
Jerry's problem is that he doesn't know how to use HIS e-mail program
(Netscape 3.0). He needs to turn on "wrap long lines" from the Netscape
Mail "View" menu to automatically wrap incoming messages.

Subject: How about a vanity reflector?
Message-ID: <3.0b36.32.19961110185037.006e952c@mailbox.swip.net>
Hi ,
I might be late with my mail but then I have no intrest in following the
thing at all.
What I do know is I am ded tired of getting the mail. The volume has and
still is
high compared to anything else. I understand it can be interesting to the
people=20
it affect that is why I suggested a solution. I do not see the need for me
to unsubscribe
to any reflector due to an error of other peoples mail. Since the
contestreflector is not
intended for contesters to compare results but to discuss contestrelated
topics
that can be done around the year. Vanity is not one of them. Besides the
suggestion=20
would have had no impact since the Vanity crap has been duirng the
contestseason
aswell, right?=20
My mail was simply letting people know a simple solution. Well maybe you
assume the=20
contestreflector is a USA only thing if that is true then I will gladly
unsubscribe to it as I couldn't be bothered.

I don't know but fx Paul Dunphys mail about the oldtimer created more bad
feelings, and was
taken of the reflectors ,than this vanity thing , even with the latter one
taking increadibly more
bandwidth. Let's get back to the real issues! And good luck to all who have
aplied for new callsigns.

Fellow contesters,
I am wondering if it is sufficient to send the log via e-mail or if a paper
log is required to accompany the e-mail file ?
Please advice
