CQWWCW 1997 SHORT PROPAGATION FORECAST dated November 27.1997 by OH8RC
The 27 day rule seems to be in force. On and around 3rd Nov 97
propagation was very good, solar flux around 110 and geomagnetic
field quiet. This would mean good conditions also on the
CQWWCW-Contest weekend 29.-30.November.
On 26th Nov. the solar flux was again up to 102-108. The
Boulder a-index was 1, the k-index 2, solar activity
low/moderate, geomagnetic field quiet. This made good conditions,
and even in OH 7 MHz was wide open to USA not only at
night/morning, but strong signals around 12UTC short path.
November 27th at 0600 UTC the k-index was 1.
The NOAA forecast tells, that conditions should stay good until
Sunday, solar activity moderate, geomagnetic field quiet. This would
mean good conditions also in Northern Europe over North Pole area
to Pacific and possible even 28MHz openings to USA and JA,
because Aurora will hopefully keep away from northern latitudes.
Or - you never exactly know when the DX is coming...
