I worked YT0T last night on 80M CW. He commented that midwest stations
were louder than east coast stations during the contest. I would guess
this is a general statement. I believe that the extreme NE didn't suffer
as much as the rest of us in the east.
What is interesting is that if these bad conditions were indeed due to
aurora, then you would not expect W7's and W0's to be commenting about
good conditions to Europe while most of the east are complaining about
how band things were for them. I believe what we experienced this weekend
was more complicated. I dont pretend to explain it... but I know when
I've heard something odd. And what happened this weekend on 80M was
definately odd.
Congrats to you guys in the midwest for getting the rare "edge". Too bad
it doesn't happen more often. It would make things more interesting for
sure.
