I lived in Seattle briefly in 1978, and had the good fortune to operate at
K7RI, K7SS, and VE7WJ. I was amazed at how easy it was to generate a
monstrous pileup of JAs (although using "K1UA/7" may have helped) outside of
contests. My subjective impression is that it would harder to do that now
from New England into Europe, although I rarely try it, as I don't need the
QSL cards, hi. I remember Tom K7RI telling me he had plenty of JA QSL cards
already ! I guess that was around the peak of JA activity.
