Just wanted to add some more W7GG stories. I have operated a few times
from Bobs Central Oregon Contest station QTH.
He had put in a lot of effort to have a very competitive station in a
remote location. There were no utilities. Power came from Solar, Wind and
2 generators. Due to the lack of utilities the noise level was
nonexistent. even to access cell phone coverage a 20 el yagi was required.
My first time there was for a Field Day. And a Field Day like no other I
have been at. 3 full power stations with great antennas. A bunch of great
ops who made about 6000 QSOs. And to top it off, we were on the nearby lake
in Bobs boat in less than an hour after the end.
Another time in a DX test I have a great memory of being asked by a station
on 40M what I was using. The reply was 3 over 3 at 200 ft. The guy
replied "no wonder your so loud."
TNX Bob for the great times.
