Hello Everyone,
Feel free to distribute the information below (please delete this paragraph)
as widely as possible. It may not have pure DX appeal but our clubs around
the state are gearing up to provide QSO's with KH6 from all the major
islands during the contest. People should check out the updated rules as we
have made some changes. Though this is a contest per se, we are also trying
to provide more opportunities for people to work Hawaii. Thank you. Kimo
Chun, KH7U V.P. Koolau Amateur Radio Club - KH6J.
Kalawao County on the island of Molokai in Hawaii will be activated for the
Hawaii QSO Party, August 27-28th 2011. There will be some operating before
and after the contest.
Five operators from Oahu will travel to the Kalaupapa, Molokai peninsula and
Kalawao County, the site of Kalaupapa National Historical Park and Kalaupapa
Settlement where Hawaii residents and others who were afflicted with leprosy
(today called Hansen's disease) were exiled. The team will be there from
August 25-29th, operating up to 2 stations on 10-40 meters, SSB and CW in
the Hawaii QSO Party. Before and after the contest they may be on WARC
bands as time permits.
The call sign during the contest will be KH7Q. QSL direct via AH6NF or
operator instructions.
See www.karc.net/HQP for HI QSO Party contest rules. Questions? Contact
Bev, AH6NF at ah6nf@arrl.net before the contest. The group will not have
real-time Internet access while there.
