Nothing wrong with certificates. And nothing like having the first few show
up in the mail! I think it is wonderful that CQ and ARRL still take the
time and effort to send paper certs.

That said, one of the biggest expenses of running a contest is the printing
and mailing of certificates. For that reason, the Cabrillo log format
recently had a new field added.

From: http://wwrof.org/cabrillo/cabrillo-specification-v3/

CERTIFICATE: YES | NO
Indicate if you wish to receive, if eligible, a paper certificate sent via
postal mail by the contest sponsor. The contest sponsor may or may not honor
this tag, and if so may or may not use opt-in or opt-out as the default. YES
is the default.

If you don't want to receive certificates, simply add the line
CERTIFICATE: NO
to your log.

Not all contests may support this flag yet (CQ WW does), but it will at
least alert the sponsor as to your preference.

Randy, K5ZD
