Friedrichshafen is nothing like Hamvention... it's held at the
Friedrichshafen convention center which consist of long ago converted
zeppelin hangers next to the Zeppelin factory. This is the same convention
center used for many national/international conventions year round. The
setting is hard to beat with views of Lake Constance and the Swiss alps.
The Friedrichshafen "Ham Radio" is, to the best of my knowledge, not
organized by a local club, but rather a collaboration of the DARC and other
organizations.
Flea market is indoors and ample food and drinks available in centrally
located areas both indoors and outside. A beautiful, clean, venue and
professional organization.
And for us west coasters, is a heck of a lot easier to get to than Dayton.

For those who have gone to FH and Dayton, can anyone offer some insight in
terms of exhibition space and forum space? Was Dayton larger? Did FH erect
tents? Just trying to get a feel for the two of the largest events in
amateur radio.
