I love loops,
As large as possible fed with open line.
Run it around the perimeter of the property.
Decent Gain, and a nice quiet antenna too.

Subject: [CQ-Contest] If you could only have one simple antenna...?
I'm a fairly serious but second-tier contester who's getting old, and we
have just moved to Baltimore County, MD for family medical reasons.
Tower and antenna rules here are pretty reasonable, but I have other
constraintswhich will pretty much limit me to one antenna, and probably
to wires. I'd still like to play in Sweepstakes and dabble in DX
contests. Given the state of the sunspot cycle, a lot of that is likely
to be on the lower bands.
So, if you were in my shoes, what would you put up?
