[CQ-Contest] Multiple Cw Contests same dates?

I have counted nine CW/SSB contests this weekend 17-18th, not sure if this
is unusual.

My question to the group,  when working in a particular contest how do you
determine if the CQ callers and pouncers are in 'your' contest. I find it's
quite rare that participants identify which contest they are working.

Do you just work anyone/everyone  and not worry about it?
