[CQ-Contest] Phased verticals

Question for the antenna gurus.

I know that for best results from a pair of phased verticals, the 
verticals should be identical.  However, if I have slightly dissimilar 
antennas, hardware-wise, but are matched to the same impedance at the 
base, will this work for a pair of phased verticals?
