(Hey, guys, that's satirical. I am not accusing anybody. Now, go read it.)
Well, I was feeling pretty cocky when the RAC Canada Day scores were posted
on 3830scores.com After years of being outpointed by Canadians and by
better stations with better op's, I had finally posted the highest SOLP
score -- 155,838. Even higher than the highest SOLP Assisted score. I had
out-BIC'ed 'em all!
Then my buddy VE6TL tipped me to the official results in "The Canadian
Amateur". Whoa! There is VE5RAC (VE5SF) with a SOLP score of 343,896.
K3KU is in (a distant) second place.
But that winning score was not posted on 3930scores.com.
Hmmm. VE5SF and VE5CPU are the Committee that runs the RAC contests. Is
it suspicious that the VE5RAC score was withheld until the other SOLP
scores were reported? Is this like some USA elections of yesteryear, when
in some states only a political fool would be the first to report vote
counts in his district?
Is the fix in?
Not at all. VE5SF and VE5CPU do a great job on the RAC 'tests. VE5RAC is
worth 20 QSO points (and maybe a multiplier) to K3KU's 2 points, and
VE5SF's antennas are much better than K3KU's all-band dipole.
But mostly, Sam is a FB OP, and I suspect that he would beat me if we
swapped stations.
I done my best and got beat fair and square. I'll graciously accept 2nd
place. This was my most rewarding Canada Day other than 2021, when I
encouraged N7ZZ to participate and he whupped me good.
Congratulations to VE5SF on a fine win.
73, Art K3KU
