I have been tolerating RFI into my quite expensive 35" surround sound =
stereo tv for quite some time now. By "tolerating" I just didn't =
operate when the tv was in use... Not fun. I finally got fed up and =
nailed it down today.

The symptoms were an extremely loud buzz when operating high power out =
of the left and right speakers, the left side was worse. When I =
disconnected the surround sound speakers (rear) the problem was minimal. =
 I concluded the surround sound speaker wires were great receive =
antennas. The RF being picked up was getting put into the audio =
amplifier of the tv resulting in horrible noise coming out of the other =
speakers. =20

The problem was resolved by wrapping lots of turns of the speaker wire =
around ferrite cores. Each of the ferrite cores were located at the =
back of the tv. The longest surround sound speaker wire required two =
ferrite cores to squash the RF.

73,
     KT6RA  Ray Antasek
