Proper termination includes grounding at both ends.

I know, I'm one of 'em <:-))
The ground at the base of the mast should be BOTH earth and the circuit
neutral. IOW part of the station common ground unless it's a log way
out. I've seen a couple of stations where the interference was
traveling out the coax and tying the far end to the common ground
eliminated the signal getting in at the antenna. There may have been
other things at play, but "grounding" the far end did clear it up.
