Roger,

        They just don't want to let go of this concept, despite the
obvious technological weaknesses.

        I had not considered the added weakness of the "smart grid",
so that makes wifi-via-grid an even worse idea.

        I guess we need to restart the process of re-educating Congress
and warning the bureaucrats (esp FCC) that they will be held accountable 
to the voters if they rush this through - despite well-justified 
warnings - and then bad things happen.
