Damned RFI, I just haven't been able to
locate it. Listening on 6M it's arcing of
some sort, the 6M beam sort of has the
direction pointed but that's not good
enough.

last night I had enough and ordered a
MFJ-856 & MVJ-5008. I see some mods to the
856 and will do that, including
attenuation. I just read this nice mod to
the 856 & wonder if perhaps there is a
worthy option that would allow a single
pot in line as opposed to switched in
resistors?
