Hi Steve,

AFAIK the DX record for power line RFI is held by K3ZM.
My four mile record pales in comparison to Peter's record.

Peter's Chesapeake Bay QTH is 25 miles across salt water from the
eastern shore of Virginia where he successfully found a power line
RFI source several years ago that was successfully resolved.

There are a number of different types of electric fences out there.

I had one a mile away, purchased from Tractor Supply. It was one second on, one
second off. The idea is to shock the horse, not electrocute it. The fence was
arcing to ground through overgrown vegetation. Once that was cut down, all was
quiet.

On the lightning arrestor side, I had one a mile away. S9+20 dB on 20 meters.
Disconnected by the power company, and later replaced.

If you really want extreme cases, at the old N5IA station, we had S8 noise on
the JA beverage. That was caused by a power line issue 6 miles away !
