Many here know of Ed Hare, W1RFI, the recently "retired" Lab Manager for
the ARRL. I say "retired" because after his 30 year plus ARRL career and
subsequent retirement, he still had an office at HQ and still went to
work several days a week as a volunteer for the lab.
I just wanted you all to know that unfortunately he became a SK last
Friday, after a long bout with leukemia. I have been working with him a
lot the last few years with the ARRL Clean Signal Initiative program,
and of course, he has authored a few technical books for ARRL, most
notable his book on RF Safety Exposure. He was a brilliant RF engineer,
and his callsign said it all.
He will be sorely missed by many in the amateur radio world, especially
by those he worked with at ARRL HQ. Services are pending and the League
itself will be soon putting out a notice on his passing. RIP OM!
