At the risk of being shot/hung/burned at the stake:  I think PSK is  the 
better mode for them to be using.  Their setup is less than optimum  (power, 
antennas, experienced pile-up managers), all of which lend themselves  far more 
favorably to PSK than dealing with a bunch of RTTY ops running KW+ and  
jamming/QRMing/calling incessantly/etc.
 
PSK is far better on "this side" as well, considering the marginal signal  
conditions for the vast majority of the U.S.  
 
Putting aside the fact that they prefer PSK (end of discussion), a 2-3 kHz  
wide passband to simply click on a trace for a QSO will lead to far more  
contacts than a KWRTTYmelee.
 
Finally, PSK will get you the "digital credit" for DXCC, same as  RTTY.  RTTY 
apparently will have to wait for the high power/multibeam type  operation.
