This evening, I opened up my Omni VI to, among other things, disconnect
Connector 52. As many on the list have reported, it eliminated the thumps
and clicks I heard in my headphones while operating CW. A great return for
very little effort.
I had the radio upside down, with the bottom cover removed, and was
listening to my keying in a dummy load to hear the effect of the mod. Then
I switched to an antenna on 20m to hear the effect with band noise. I
heard Alex, EW2AA calling CQ. I tuned him in, which was kind of weird
because all the knobs were in the wrong place. Anyway, I got him on the
first try.
As I said, pineapple upside-down DX. Or was it backwards borscht. . . ?
