What battery ? Mine is powered from the Omni-V.
KC4EE may need to look at his grounding system, and/or antenna/ATU
cabling. The 705 can be prone to RFI - I had all sorts of problems
including RF burns off the mike, until I changed to a fully shielded
ATU. Having the breadboard ATU a long way from the mike made no
difference at all.
If you ask nicely, TT send a ferrite bead/capacitor kit to fit inside
the mike plug. (And if you manage to install it all inside the plug you
get a certificate entitling you to do brain surgery).
