I went to check my OMNI-C with RF gain cut back against my Kenmore TS 850
with the RF gain cut back. The OMNI generates significantly more noise
from the audio chain than the Kenmore. I used the same speaker for the
test. I don't think it makes much difference except on a quiet band with
a very weak signal, when the IF chain of the OMNI is quieter to begin with
(and seems to produce more copiable signals by a small margin to my
ears...)
