Very happy to share with the group that the 3 Khz PTO drift has been fixed.
Many Thanks
to the many that supplied me with ammo to tackle this problem.
Observing that a light tap on the top cover caused the PTO frequency to jump as
much
as 3 Khz led me to believe a poor connection in the PTO. It was correct!!
Luckly the
PTO board has the PTO component leads and traces facing outward. I found 3 Yes
3 bad
solder joints on the PTO board. I also loosend the two ground screws to the
board and
re-tightend them three times since they were available.
Now the drift is less than approx 60 Hz during warm up.....Great!! What a
spendid CW
radio at a bargain price. Now I have to get the radio adjusted 100HZ to match
the real
frequency.
