Yep, there's lots of new virii, worms, and trojan horses out there.
Personally, I don't get on the net until I have a good anti-virus program in
place. The
first place I go is www.grc.com and do the "probe my ports" and "test my
shields" bit to test my PHEW-ter for vulnerabilities.
Then I go to www.zonelabs.com and download a copy of Zone Alarm - the pro's a
very good firewall, but at least the basic freebie firewall will prevent many
nasty surprises.
After that, ALL downloads go to a removable disk and are doubly checked for
intruders before opening. When I find a virus I trash the disk.
Bottom line - I don't have a lot of trouble with getting infected, but I do
have to delete a lot of E-mail from folks who don't take basic precautions.
