Quoting the manual for my VI Plus (3-5.14)(QSK FAST/SLOW)  

"QSK can be overridden entirely by plugging a hand or foot operated 
transmit/receive switch into the rear panel MUTE jack."

Question to Scott:  How hard  would it be to accomplish the same on the Orion, 
using perhaps the rear panel SPARE jack as the input.
