This issue came up a year or two ago and there were many posts to the
reflector about it.
Someone, it might have been WB4HUC, posted a message in which he detailed
every single difference no matter how minor, between the 6+ and the 6 option
3. If you search the archive you should find it. It is invaluable for
anyone trying to decide between one rig or the other for purchase. The
original post was in response to controversy over what constitutes a genuine
Omni 6+ -- some hams were selling option 3s as 6+s. Some guys thought that
was okay; others thought it was misrepresentation. The 6+s have some mods;
they are SMT, have the TCXO, and some other things--that post really spells
out all the differences. It pretty much made the point that a 6+ is NOT a 6
opt. 3, and which you want depends on what is important to you. You might
want thru-hole circuits for example, therefore you would not want a 6+.
