Eric, I'm also using a GM-4 and Orion. My CC-1 cable also started life as a Kenwood cable. I connected the mic's PTT switch between the PTT pin 3 and the ground pin 2. I use the 1/4" PTT jack to connect to a Heil footswitch and use that for PTT control rather than the PTT button on the mic, although I did use that before getting the footswitch.
