With regard to the band switch, make sure that the linkage between the
two switches is intact. There should be two small brass rods held in
place with little plastic buttons. If the rods are bent and/or one is
missing, you'll have a tough time changing bands.
You'll probably have to clean off the old caked grease from this
mechanism and re-lube as well.
