Well said Bob. If your load is reactive and you do not have a Ten Tec supply or a supply that puts out more than 20 amps without a breaker you can kiss the finals bye bye. Less chance of this mismatch of reactive load with a non auto antenna tuner. If you have an auto tuner like the new MFJ and you let it do its thing without protection you will hit a reactive on the way to a good match and bye bye finals again. Ten Tec decided to give full output without SWR limiting so you could drive inefficient amplifiers. But sometimes the Ten Tec way is a bad idea if you are not careful.
