I never laid hands on an Orion Steve, but have here an Omni C, an Omni V and
an Omni VI+ and have had fun and success them all on CW, chasing DX and
casual rag chewing. I also have evaluated a Jupiter for a few months under
contest and summertime conditions. The only thing really lacking in the
Jupiter for
me is a receiver with better selectivity, AGC and whatever "mojo" it takes
to dig the weak ones out of the mud and maybe catch a needed one under contest
conditions. I'm looking for a hot rod rather than a luxury ride. The
smaller, less ostentatious, cheaper "Jupiter II", should it come, I think,
would be
exactly what I'm looking for.
