[TenTec] TT Orion 565 as carryon luggage

Hi,
Are there any chance to pass Orion as carryon(cabin) luggage on 
international flight ? I'm wondering to buy this one at my business trip 
in US but afraid to leave it for carry in.
Does anybody have good or worst experience ? I'm just would like to 
avoid to "stay alone on check in with large expensive box without any 
permission to get abroad".
