Same thing happened here.  I've found the ALC pot to get cruddy and 
reduce the output power.  I would suggest finding a very accurate 
wattmeter when adjusting that pot, and also have a proper TenTec power 
supply that will disconnect power to the radio if you draw too much 
current.  I'm too lazy to take the bottom panel off and put a tiny bit 
of Caig progold on the pot but probably will one of these days.  My 
experience has been that every 6 months the pot needs a little turning 
to clean the wiper.
Whatever you do, I wouldn't do this unless you have a power supply that 
trips at 22 amps.  It's not worth blowing the finals.  The 25A supply 
for the orion probably won't trip until you've done some damage.
