Here's a big failing of Version 2.  You are listening to an S-5 signal.  
Someone puts an S9+ carrier on the QSO.  You push the auto notch.  The carrier 
goes away.  The S-meter still says S9+ and pumps accordingly.  
In version 1.373b5 the carrier goes away and the meter reads S-5 with no 
pumping.  
I also like the noise reduction in 1.373b5 versus version 2.  This however is a 
personal choice.  I tried Version 2 for a long time and then reverted to to the 
earlier version.
As for the sweep.  I am using an external sweep (LP-PAN) that is software 
controlled and linked to my rig control and logging software.  It's great.

Here's an update.
Investigation showed that the hardware mod has already been done to this 
radio. Right now I have 2.062a installed and seems fine so far to me, 
though of course I have a very limited term of reference. I would be 
interested to hear if there is something I might want to try with the 
radio that this version of code will likely fail at.
Next question. The S meter sits around 1.5 to 2 with the rig connected 
to a dummy load. This with RF gain at 100, preamp and attenuator off. 
All other NR/NB etc off. With the AGC threshold set at more than about 
3uV the meter rapidly starts to rise which I can certainly understand. 
How about setting the zero point?
