Excellent post Rick.
I also prefer the analog S meter over digital.  However, how much would that 
have raise the retail price??? 
As for operation, I think Ten Tec is on the right track by using the KISS 
principal as compare to the K2/K3, which both are excellent rigs.  It's just 
that their learning curve is greater, as you pointed out.
You didn't mention adjusting the K3 receive audio equalizer,  but that make a 
big improvement.
