Thanks for all the help everyone. Problem solved by using the matching power supply. Thanks for all the info about the risk of not using the proper supply. I had no idea that it was an integral part of the system. My new challenge is that my matching power supply injects a steady hum into the audio. Crystal clear using a 3rd-party power supply.
