I recall hearing about this phenomenon back in the mid 60's when I worked
at Collins Radio. It was dubbed "long delayed echo" and observed mostly
on
80 meters. It seems to be a rare event and no one has come up with an
explanation for it. I believe there was some mention of it in QST but
have no
idea when or where to look for it.
