KH7 used to be just Kure Atoll, but with the closing of the military/NOAA
facilities there,
the FCC released that prefix to the rest of the state of Hawaii (we were
running low on KH6, AH6, NH6, and WH6 calls).
As far as I know we were the only state that had/has two call area numbers
(Kure is part of the City & County of Honolulu).
