Started hearing them very early, around 1300Z.  Worked them on 
40 and 75 just before.

When they worked W7KW, I had them locked into my R4-C's 250 Hz 
filter.  Warmed up the radio room calling for a couple of hours.
Their signal was best on the vertical, which is not the norm.
I was hoping that as sunrise approached, the dipole would start
to hold its own (as reported by VE7BS from an earlier day).

Perhaps the two paths that were heard in KL7 was the difference
between the low angle and a higher angle path.  Just at 1450Z,
the dipole suddenly sprang to life, and shortly after switching 
to it, the deed was done.  

K0EU was the east most QSO that I heard.  Most other QSOs were 
from the Southwest (Ariz/Calif/Nevada).
