Just as a possible point of interest. Vung Tau is located on the coast. I
don't know if it's proximity to the ocean is a factor or not. I remember
flying helicopters into Vung Tau when I was serving my tour of duty in
VietNam in 1970 - a beautiful, resort like location.

P.S. Yes, looks like a peninsula out into the South China Sea (to the
South) which explains the good LP signal...it was most likely SSE for
