In case of coupling, the distance between a vertical and a beverage is what
matters.
Unless the inv L is half wave resonant (what's not raccomandable), to let
the inv L floating (disconnect from coax ) is much better than grounding.
Grounding may just transform the (quarter wave) inv L in a parasitic element
reflecting energy rather than absorbing it and preventing re-radiation.
