I used a variation of the inverted U for 10 years with
great sucess. It was 60' up, 60' over and 60' back
down. Because it was 3/8 wave long, its radiation
resistance was 50 ohms and only needed a series c to
tune out the reactance. It was really a great
transmitting antenna. George grounded the far end of
the U and I let mine float.
