Just to let you all know that the Pacific 160m Contest 2001 will be run
this year on Saturday 21 July 2001, from 0700 - 2300 UTC. The rules, from
Ian VK3VP, are given below.
For those who need P29, Rick P29KFS has e-mailed me to say that he will be
active and he hopes to also get P29PL and Ron P29IO onto the band for the
contest. Ron P29IO is also VK3IO and is a very experienced 160m CW DXer.
Conditions are usually good into the western USA from Australia/ZL/P29 at
this time of year and contacts can be made from this part of the world into
the eastern USA - as Tom W8JI can testify. Contacts are usually possible
between Europe and VK in the final couple of hours of the contest (with VK6
in the last 30 minutes or so).

DX stations are encouraged to participate, by working P2, ZL

Frequencies: CW: 1828 - 1840 kHz
SSB: 1843 - 1875 kHz
(Note: Guard band 1840 - 1843 kHz. Contacts not permitted)
Exchange: RS(T) plus serial number beginning at 001.
Score: For P2, ZL, VK -
One point for QSO with own call area;
two points for other call areas in ZL or VK;
three points for Pacific Islands (ZK1, VK9)
For Pacific Islands -
one point for QSO with own call area;
three points for P2, ZL, VK;
five points for QSOs outside P2, ZL, VK.
For stations outside P2, ZL, VK or Pacific Islands -
five points per QSO.
Multiplier: For P2, ZL, VK -
total number of VK, ZL and P2 call areas worked, plus OTHER
DXCC
countries.
For stations outside P2, ZL, VK -
total number of P2, ZL and VK call areas worked.
Final Score: Total QSO points times total multipliers.
Certificates: to top scorers in each mode, call area of ZL and VK and in
each DXCC country.
Logs: Please show full QSO details of call worked; mode; time UTC;
exchange.
Include Summary Sheet showing operator's callsign; name;
mailing address;
category and section entered; points claimed and a signed Declaration.
Logs submitted electronically need only show operator's name in lieu of
signature, but must show all other information.
