Hi,
My neighbor has a chain-link fence dividing our property on one
side. I did not think connecting to the chain-link would provide a
good connection along the line (because of the many loose
mechanically touching wires). Instead, I ran wires from my radial
field, connected the wires to small solder lugs and screwed the
lugs either to the vertical fence pole at the bottom, or when
circumstances were favorable, up the pole to the horizontal top
pipe. I drilled pilot holes into the pipe and used self tapping screws
to hold the lugs against the pipe and painted the lug area for
weather proofing with silver color paint. Adding in the fence
definitely improved the performance of my tx vertical (especially
since the fence continues beyond the edge of my city lot property
in two directions).
