Having less than a full year of full operation on
totopbandince my relocation from AZ to WA, I'm still
learning about the propagation differences. One thing
is very obvious, the differences between 47° N and 33°
N are huge!

Now I can understand this difference especially on
polar paths (BTW it seems 90% of the 160 activity is
through the aurora zone for me) but I don't understand
how there can be the difference I've observed between
NE USA and NW USA.

Many times this season W1AW is down in the noise on my
800 foot Beverage pointed right at it, and yet I see
spots from New England stations working EU, AF, and
SA/CaCaribbeanOK EU is right through the Aurora from
here and impossible, but what about the south paths?
They don't seem to be there either. Since most of New
England is at the same geomagnetic latitude as I am, I
am having trouble understanding the mechanism at work
here. I must be missing something.

Although I've experienced much worse conditions over
the last 40 years, I've never had a season that was as
didisappointingr as frustrating as this one has been.

With the predictions for "better conditions" and
higher activity levels than I've ever seen before, I
can hardly wait to see what the next two years will
bring!
