Topband: battle creek special?

In response to the inquiry about a portable lowband
antenna... I've seen mention of the battle creek special,
without having seen a source for details.

My assumption is that it's a segmented tubular 40' mast
with top loading and a base matching system.   Can anyone
shed light?

Apparently, some folks made a few copies, and were loaning
them out to major expeditions.
