Hi All,

I just finished construction of a K9AY receiving loop yesterday morning,
having been inspired by Ivan's (VE3DO) success with his version of a
"terminated" loop...

I oriented mine to favour (switch-selectable) east & west, for benefit of
Europe & the Pacific, to complement my existing north/south Beverage. The
results...? WOW!!!

Lat night I copied more Europeans on 160 than I heard all last month! The
effect of switching directions is not nearly as impressive (with mine,
anyway) as it is when you switch between it & my 180' inverted "L" antenna
receiving --- a steady S-3 din on the "L" masked just about every Eu signal,
and made the otherwise stronger ones only barely readable. The K9AY loop,
however, took the ambient noise down to something akin to S-1 --- the DX
really stood out in Q-5 fashion with it in line.

I'm impressed.

I realize that this monolgue is mere "preaching to the choir" for the
majority reading it, however, if you've never tried a K9AY (or a derivative
thereof), I strongly urge you to get started. There's next to nothing
required in putting one up, and if it's just a specific area of the world
you're focused on working, it's that much simpler...

Now all I have to do is get the HB 2 x 813 linear tuned-up, & I'll be ready
to contribute to the QRM on the band!
