For a Flag or a point-terminated Pennant, it is advisable to run the
feedline away perpendicularly from the antenna for as far as is practical
before dropping the feedline down to the ground.

With the point-fed Pennant (my preference), the feedline may come
straight down to the ground from the feedpoint with no problems.
